Poor Turkey

Poor Turkey

The turkey is done
And we're ready to eat
We're all settled down
In our own little seat.

But holiday fear
Finally comes to life
When our Dad appeared
With his electric knife.

Last Christmas we made
A big mistake
Gave him this toy
For goodness sake.

An electric knife
We heard him say
I just can't wait
Until Thanksgiving Day.

We all shivered
With so much fear
He kept on charging it
Throughout the year.

Last summer we knew
It was a dangerous tool
He flunked all his subjects
At carving school.

Poor Dad he is hardly
Ever a bother
We all agree
He's a real neat Father.

But the wings went flying
And so did the rest
The potatoes took center stage
In all the mess.

So don't do like us
Let your good sense rule
Never give your Dad
A cutting tool.
