From The Past

Have you ever stop to wonder

Just how things use to be

Making crowns from wild daisies

Climbing grandma's big Oak tree.

Mow the grass with a push mower

Never locked a door

Mom cooked three meals a day

Who could ask for more.

Air Conditioning was a luxury

One we never had

TV was plain old black and white

Three stations wasn't bad.

Indoor plumbing there for some

Some of us just lucked out

Always had time for family

Respect was never a doubt.

Didn't have lots of money

Stock Market never read

We were happy with plenty of food

And a roof over our head.

We went to church three times a week

God lived with us each day

We said our blessings and our prayers

That was just our way.

Today most children will never know

The best things in life are free

Like having close family relationships

It sure did work for me.

Oh there are times when loved ones leave

And families grow apart

But these are wonderful memories

That stay within our heart.
